Job responsibilities:
General duties as are related to a funeral director including but not limited to, making removals, embalming bodies, making funeral arrangements with families, conducting or assisting on funerals, applying cosmetics to the deceased; dressing and casketing of the deceased; setting up flowers and arranging the chapel for visitation, parking cars for funerals, greeting families, sitting visitations "wake duty", etc.
Being "on call" on certain nights, means handling phone calls only. We have an answering service who takes calls overnight but you would be responsible, on some evenings, to speak with various people such as hospice nurses, hospital personnel and /or immediate family members of the deceased.
No overnight removals or embalmings are required, but we provide the opportunity to earn extra pay on a volunteer basis, if you choose to do so.
Our staff works very well together (and we are fun). We also employ support staff who are in house assisting with phones so that you can focus on your professional responsibilities.
We serve about 160-180 families each year and serve families of all faiths but mostly of the catholic religion and we have an approximate 43% cremation rate.
We have been in business since 1902 and the owner is the 4th generation in her family to operate the business. It is of primary importance to her that everyone is happy in their work. We are looking for longevity in everyone we hire and we take very good care of our staff.
We are also open to help the right person to relocate to our area.
