For Apprentice Graduate of mortuary science program in excellent academic standing Completion and passing of National Board Exam Proficient with computer technology and word processing For Licensee Graduate of mortuary science program in good academic standing Completion and passing of National Board Exam Prepared to take necessary licensing exams in North Carolina or licensed in NC Proficient with computer technology and word processing

Job responsibilities:
Apprentice: Includes engaging in all activities required for future NC licensing as well as performing tasks as deemed necessary. Funeral Director Responsibilities: • Scheduling conferences and interacting with families to explain, coordinate and assist in all aspects of funeral arrangements on a preneed and at need basis • Scheduling employees when needed • Maintaining inventory and knowledge of merchandise • Hosting meetings or other active involvement in the community • Organizing and directing professional, meaningful funeral services • Assisting with dressing, casketing and cosmetic care • Making removals and other transport services to and from funeral home when removal staff unavailable • Logging cases into funeral software and producing all necessary paperwork • Completing insurance filings • Keeping a clean, professional environment in all areas of funeral home • Answering and making phone calls in a knowledgeable, courteous manner • Performing other tasks as deemed necessary such as online media presence, event planning, etc...
