Transfer Technician Job Description The primary role of a transfer technician is to transport decedents into the funeral home’s care shortly after the death has occurred. We partner with Hospice organizations, hospitals, coroners’ offices, and nursing homes to make the transition of a loved one, as smooth as possible. Transfer Technicians will receive full training on the best practices for transferring loved one’s into our care, how to use the cot, what appropriate personal protective equipment should be used, and what to communicate to families on the transfer. We will provide on the job training and support so you can gain confidence in your new skillset. Transfer Technicians should be able to lift 50 to 75 LBS independently. Most transfers you will perform will have help and support from the organization the decedent is located or a second teammate if the transfer is at a home. Transfer Technicians should be able to pass a drug screen, background check, have a valid driver’s license, be comfortable operating a van, and be able to communicate with the public and families we serve. Mission Statement At the time of death or shortly after death, the transfer of the deceased takes place. This transfer from the place of passing into the funeral homes is often a very emotional and difficult time for the families of those we serve. The transfer team is often the very first contact the bereaved family has with The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The level of care and respect during the transfer is a direct reflection of our entire organization. Even when the family is not present at the place of transfer, the staff, or officials there are all potential future clients. It is our goal to treat the deceased and the families with integrity, care, and compassion.
